The Manifesto
The Art of Modern DiscernmentWe live in an age of disposable culture, algorithmic noise, and relentless optimization. The Rhodes Press was founded on a contrary premise: that depth beats speed, craft outlasts novelty, and true autonomy is built through deliberate restraint.Written under the editorial direction of Julian Rhodes, our publications bridge high strategic discipline and visceral everyday craft—from the architecture of classic cooking and spirits to executive frameworks drawn from modernist art and cultural history. No filler. No trend-chasing. Only clear frameworks, clean typography, and enduring ideas designed for the modern practitioner.

About Julian
Julian Rhodes is a writer and occasional consultant on things that require both a
passport and a sense of adventure. Having spent the better part of two decades drifting between San Francisco and a sun-bleached farmhouse on the southwest France, Julian has dedicated his life to the pursuit of "the good life"—which he defines as the perfect intersection of physical capability and sensory
pleasure.Julian believes that a glass of red wine and a grueling mountain hike are not mutually exclusive, but rather essential components of a well-calibrated existence. He has been known to argue that the quality of one’s life is measured by the strength of one’s legs and the depth of one’s cellar.Julian’s philosophy was born from a disdain for the sanitized, fluorescent world of modern culture. Instead, he advocates for a "global pulse"—a way of living that borrows from cultures around the world. When he isn't writing or exploring his surroundings, Julian can be found practicing his kettlebell swings on a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean or hunting for the world’s most elusive rye bread.
